Adrenal Disease
Dear Members,
Below is the letter I receieved from Avian & Exotic in regards to Lupron being used as a preventative treatment in ferrets for adrenal disease. I have a flyer that was attached to the email they originally sent me. You can find that here or in the menu on the left of this website. I highly recommend members looking into this!
I also want to remind you about the Medical Index located in the left menu. It has a quite a bit of information concerning Adrenal disease; as well as, several other illnesses.
Thanks,
Laura
Dear Ferret Owner,
This letter is to let you know about a new regimen aimed at preventing
ferret adrenal disease. As you may be aware, adrenal disease affects
about 70% of pet ferrets. Adrenal disease causes hair loss, itching,
difficulty urinating, bone marrow failure, and many other symptoms.
Current research suggests that a single hormone injection given each
year during the ferret’s natural breeding season (Jan to Feb) may help
to prevent or delay to onset of adrenal disease in ferrets. This
treatment is especially important for ferrets less than one year old.
The enclosed brochure gives more details.
The time to schedule an appointment is now, before the breeding season
ends in early March.
We invite you to discuss this valuable treatment option with our
doctors. For more information or to make an appointment, please call
our office: 919-844-9166
